We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the “Act”), we are the data controller and we are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (registration number ZA209843). The General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) supersedes the Act and is effective as of 25th May 2018.
We provide inspection services to your property or other objects (the “Services”) via www.shepper.com (the “Website”).
1. Collection and Use of Your Information
1.1. We may collect your personal data directly from you or when you access and interact with the Website, by telephone, letter or email or from other sources. We may also collect personal data from persons acting on your behalf. ‘Personal data’ means identifiable information about you, such as your name, email, address, telephone number, bank account details, support queries and so on. If you cannot be identified (for example, when personal data has been aggregated and anonymised) then this notice does not apply.
1.2. The personal data we collect from you includes your name, address, telephone number, email address, location and property details, and other details submitted by you in relation to the Services you request from Shepper.
1.3. You acknowledge that:
1.3.1. If you choose not to provide us with your personal data, or choose to use a pseudonym, we may not be able to contract with you or provide you with the information or Services you may require; and
1.3.2. If you submit incorrect information to Shepper, this may adversely affect any Services you request from Shepper.

You acknowledge and that by providing your personal data to us that we may collect and use your personal data for the purposes of supplying the Services to you, communicating with you and better understanding your needs and complying with our legal obligations. Where you have consented, we may also collect your personal data to provide you with marketing and updates on our Services and any additional services we may provide.
1.5. We may also collect information about you with regard to each of your visits to the Website. This includes technical information relating to your activity on the Website (including IP addresses, your login information, your device ID or browser type) collected by way of tracking technologies such as cookies, or we may collect information from you in response to a survey.

2.2.1. In the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.
2.2.2. If we are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by us about our customers will be one of the transferred assets.
2.2.3. If substantially all of our assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by us about our customers may be one of the transferred assets.
2.2.4. If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our Terms and Conditions and other agreements.
2.2.5. To protect our rights, property or safety, or that of our customers, users or other third parties. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection, credit risk reduction and law enforcement.

7. Your Rights & Retention of Information
7.1. Under the Act/GDPR, you have rights to:
- know what personal data we hold about you, and to make sure it’s correct and up to date
- request a copy of your personal data (a “data subject access request”, or ask us to restrict processing your personal data or delete it
- object to our continued processing of your personal data
- request that we erase your personal data where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it
- request the transfer of your personal data to you or a third party

We will review and investigate your complaint, and try to get back to you within a reasonable time frame. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. They will be able to advise you how to submit a complaint.
7.3. The length of time we keep your personal data depends on what it is and whether we have an ongoing business need to retain it (for example, to provide you with a service you’ve requested or to comply with applicable legal, tax or accounting requirements).
7.4. We’ll retain your personal data for as long as we have a relationship with you and for a period of time afterwards where we have an ongoing business need to retain it, in accordance with our data retention policies and practices.
